Lisa Shutt was awarded a major grant by the Jefferson Trust to expand her course "Engaging Local Histories: River View Farm,” into an internship program with the Ivy Creek Foundation. The multi-phase application process included a public "pitch" to the Jefferson Trust. Two of Shutt's students from the course, Taylor Whirley and Terrell Pittman, helped to make the pitch and "shined," according to Shutt's comments in The Daily Progress:

“It was really clear to everyone what a deeply moving experience they had in the class and how they wanted other students to experience that as well. They’re the ones who sold it and demonstrated what a transformative type of experience this internship could be.”

Congratulations, Professor Shutt!
