Dr. James Braxton Peterson is a scholar-activist and media contributor whose work on Hip Hop illuminates the educational and political dimensions of one of the world's most influential art forms. He argues that knowledge is the "Fifth Element of Hip Hop" culture (alongside djing, mc-ing, breakdancing, and graffiti). His weekly WHYY podcast, called "The Remix," explores the Fifth Element of Hip Hop through the politics of race relations and the cultural debates surrounding celebrities and entertainers.
